Projects

Here are the projects I am working on while serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Moldova. Click on project title for link to website:

Community Amphitheater - Currently raising money to build an amphitheater in the village center to promote cultural activities to get the youth more involved in the community.

Basketball & Volleyball Court - Wrote a grant proposal to the East European Foundation (Eurasia) and received $2,900 to build a multi-purpose basketball and volleyball court outside of our school in the village.

Language booklet - A few of us Peace Corps volunteers created a language booklet to help Peace Corps volunteers learn about the Moldovan culture and the Moldovan dialect of the Romanian language.

Small Water Project - A small and easy project that will have big results. We are putting an industrial sized water filter at the local school so that the students and teachers can have clean drinking water and for the kitchen to have clean water to cook with. Recent tests show that the water contains 8 times the amount of nitrates considered safe for drinking. According to the local administration, the water is so polluted due to decades of poor farming practices and contamination from the latrines (outhouses) throughout the village.

Desks at School - We are collaborating with LDS Charities to replace half of the desks and chairs at the school, which are now over 50 years old with many being too small for the older kids.
